U Sports Roundup: Huskies edge Mounties on last-minute field goal

SACKVILLE, N.B. — Brian Hope kicked a 17-yard field goal in the last minute to lift the St. Mary’s Huskies to a 27-25 win over the Mount Allison Mounties on Saturday in U Sports football action.

Joshua Shim completed 20-of-32 passes for 218 yards and three touchdowns and an interception for the Huskies (1-0).

Receiver Liam O’Brien hauled in all three scores. He had five receptions for 78 yards.

Running back Hunter Sturgeon had two touchdowns to lead Mount Allison (0-1).

Also Saturday, Bishop’s beat visiting StFX 32-19 thanks to quarterback Charles Aubry, who threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for one more.

The Gaiters (1-1) limited the X-Men (1-1) to just 182 total offensive yards.
