Canada is making some pitching plans.
Manager Ernie Whitt has tentatively planned to have Jordan Balazovic start on Tuesday against Puerto Rico and Cal Quantrill on Wednesday in the Pool A finale vs Cuba, he told Sportsnet's Shi Davidi on Sunday.
Canada started Michael Soroka in their tournament-opening win over Colombia, and Jameson Taillon will take the mound against Panama tonight at 7 p.m. ET on Sportsnet.
Balazovic plays in the Detroit Tigers' minor league system and has one MLB appearance under his belt, with the Minnesota Twins in 2023.
Quantrill is set to enter his first season with the Texas Rangers, but has seven years of major league service with a 4.35 ERA and 1.334 WHIP. This is his second WBC appearance; he pitched just 0.2 innings for Canada in 2023.
