Colombia had to switch up their pitching plans against Canada in their opener for the World Baseball Classic.
Right-hander Julio Teheran was slated to get the start but was scratched late because of shoulder discomfort he felt during warmups, the team announced.
Austin Bergner got the start in place, allowing two runs on two hits while recording a strikeout and a walk through two innings.
Teheran, 35, last appeared in the majors in 2024, when he made one start for the New York Mets.
In 255 career games with the Mets, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Angels, Detroit Tigers and Milwaukee Brewers, Teheran had a 3.85 ERA and 1.22 WHIP.
