Gavin McKenna is alone in the history books.
The Medicine Hat Tigers star extended his point streak to a CHL modern-era (since 2000) single-season record 51 games with an assist on his team's first goal Saturday night in Game 2 of the WHL's Eastern Conference final against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
McKenna, who drew an assist on Oasiz Wiesblatt's opening tally just 2:37 into the game, finished with five assists in the Tigers' 7-2 win in Medicine Hat, Alta.
“It’s super cool, I couldn’t have done it without so many of these guys,” McKenna told the Medicine Hat News. “It’s not every year you get a group like this and get the opportunity to play with so many special players. So I have to thank the boys.”
McKenna tied Alexander Radulov's 50-game mark (2005-06 with Quebec Remparts) one night earlier in a series-opening victory for Medicine Hat.
McKenna has 39 goals and 90 assists for 129 points during his 51-game streak.
The first game in McKenna's streak was Nov. 6 when he scored a goal and two assists, also against the Hurricanes.
McKenna, 17, is the heavy favourite to go first overall in the 2026 NHL Draft.
The Whitehorse native was second in WHL scoring this season with 41 goals and 88 assists for 129 points in 56 games.
Oasiz Wiesblatt and Bryce Bickford had two goals apiece for the Tigers in Game 2.
The series resumes Tuesday in Lethbridge, Alta.
