The best women's basketball player in the world is being recognized as such.
Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson has been named the WNBA Most Valuable Player for a record-breaking third year in a row, the league announced on Thursday.
Wilson has now won five MVP awards (2020, 2022, 2024, 2025, 2026), two Finals MVP accolades, eight all-star selections and has been named Defensive Player of the Year three times.
Not only is she the first player to earn this award three years in a row, but no other WNBA player has been named MVP three times in their career.
Wilson received 65 first-place votes and nine second-place votes from the group of sportswriters and broadcasters for a total of 713 points. The runner-up was rookie Olivia Miles, who earned 442 points. Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever finished in third and fourth place, respectively, while New York Liberty's Breanna Stewart finished fifth.
Wilson averaged 26.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.9 blocked shots, and 1.4 steals in her ninth season in the WNBA. This is the third year in a row that she has lead the league in points and the fifth straight where she has finished at the top in blocks per game.
The Aces are in an 0-2 series hole against the Golden State Valkyries in their semifinals series.
