Already on the brink of elimination, the Phoenix Mercury will have to go without one of their best players while they try to stay alive.
Forward Satou Sabally has been ruled out of Game 4 of the WNBA Finals after suffering a concussion in Game 3, the team announced Thursday.
The incident occurred at the 4:26 mark of the fourth quarter. Sabally got tangled up with Las Vegas Aces wing Jackie Young while contesting a rebound and the duo fell, with Sabally's head crashing into Aces forward Kierstan Bell.
Sabally stayed down on the floor for some time after the play, with the team's medical staff examining her, before she was helped back to the Mercury's locker room.
She had 24 points, five rebounds and three assists in the game up to that point.
The 27-year-old has been a standout offensive piece for the Mercury in this series, averaging a team-high 21.7 points with six rebounds and three assists while playing 29.7 minutes a game.
She finished the regular season averaging 16.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the breakout Mercury.
Phoenix is staring down a sweep while trailing 3-0 in the WNBA Finals after Wednesday's tight 90-88 loss. Game 4 is set to take place Friday night.
