The WNBA is heading back to Houston.
The Connecticut Sun is being sold to the Fertitta family and will be moving to Houston, sources told ESPN's Alexa Philippou.
The sale was for $300 million, Philippou adds. The Sun will play the 2026 season in Connecticut before relocating in 2027.
The Sun have played in Connecticut since 2003, and won two conference titles while playing there (2004, 2005).
Houston previously had a WNBA team, the Comets, from 1997 until 2008. It was one of the inaugural eight teams in the league, and became the first dynasty the WNBA ever saw.
The Comets won four straight WNBA Championships from 1997 to 2000, and are still tied with the Seattle Storm and Minnesota Lynx for the most titles in league history.
The team was disbanded in 2008 due to the previous owner's attempt to sell the team without success.
