As expected, the new WNBA CBA will feature massive changes to player salaries.
The landmark agreement will see a new salary cap that starts at $7 million and an average revenue share of nearly 20 per cent, with average salaries falling in the range of $600,000 with the minimum above $300,000, ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Wednesday.
Supermax contracts will start at $1.4 million, up from $249,244 in the last CBA, Charania also reported.
The previous salary cap was set at $1.5 million for an entire team.
Five months after the last CBA expired, the league and players' association agreed on a new agreement Wednesday, after eight days and over 100 hours of intense in-person negotiations in New York.
Despite the delays, the league has said the 2026 WNBA Draft date of April 13 will not be affected and that training camp will still open on April 19 before the season begins on May 8.
Before the Toronto Tempo can play their inaugural game, two expansion drafts — the other one is for the new Portland Fire — must take place. The free agency period still has to be set and an unprecedented number of free agents — 80 per cent of the league — must sign new contracts.
