The phone lines are officially open in the Toronto Tempo front office.
On Wednesday, the Tempo made their first trade in franchise history, acquiring the 26th pick (via the New York Liberty) in the upcoming WNBA Draft from the Chicago Sky, the team announced.
In exchange, the Tempo have agreed not to select any players from Chicago's unprotected list in the 2026 expansion draft.
With the trade, the Tempo now own picks 6, 22, 26 and 36 in the upcoming WNBA first-year player draft on April 13.
The WNBA expansion draft is set to take place on Friday at 3:30 p.m. ET, with the Tempo and fellow expansion franchise, the Portland Fire, getting their first opportunities to build out their inaugural rosters.
It will consist of two rounds with six picks in each round. It will be a snake-style draft, meaning the Fire will pick first and then alternate with the Tempo until pick 12, at which point the Tempo will have two selections in a row as they will also make the 13th pick.
The Sky also swung a deal with the Fire, sending Portland the 17th pick in the draft so that the other expansion franchise would also not pick any unprotected Chicago players. The Sky also received Portland's 21st-overall pick in the draft as part of the deal.
The Tempo make their WNBA debut in a pre-season game against the Connecticut Sun before kicking off their inaugural WNBA campaign May 8 against Washington at Toronto's Coca-Cola Coliseum.
