Toronto Tempo rookie guard Kiki Rice sustained a Grade 2 ankle sprain and will be "re-evaluated in the coming days," the team announced Thursday.
"A timeline on (Rice's) return to play is to be shared at a later date," the Tempo said in a statement.
Rice suffered the injury during Wednesday's 97-82 loss to the New York Liberty when she appeared to suffer a leg injury on a drive to the hoop with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Rice landed awkwardly after her shot was blocked by Jonquel Jones. She immediately grabbed her leg while on the court in pain before heading to the locker room.
Rice was the Tempo's first-round pick (sixth overall) in this year's WNBA Draft, she's averaging 13.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting 55.2 per cent from the field.
The five-foot-11 guard won an NCAA championship at UCLA in her senior season earlier this year.
The Tempo will next play the Chicago Sky in Toronto on Sunday.
