Marina Mabrey is headed to Chicago.
The Toronto Tempo guard was named to the reserve list for the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game, the league announced Tuesday. It's the first all-star selection of her career and she becomes the first player in Tempo franchise history to earn the honour.
“It feels really good to be named a WNBA All-Star,” Mabrey said in a statement. “After years of hard work and perseverance, it's incredibly validating to be recognized among the best players in the league. I'm grateful to my teammates, coaches and everyone who has supported me throughout my career.”
In her first season with the expansion Tempo, Mabrey has taken her game to a new level.
She is averaging 21.1 points per game this season, the first time she's averaged over 20 points per game in her career. She also leads the WNBA with 3.6 three-pointers made per game.
The most memorable moment of her season so far came on June 25 against the Los Angeles Sparks when Mabrey tied the WNBA single-game scoring record with 53 points. In the same game, she also tied the WNBA single-game record for threes made in a game with nine, a record she had already tied earlier this season.
"Marina's work ethic and commitment to winning show up every single day," said Tempo head coach Sandy Brondello in a statement. "She's embraced every challenge, elevated her game and made everyone around her better. We're thrilled to see her recognized as a WNBA All-Star."
The WNBA All-Star Game will take place on July 25 in Chicago.
