The newest WNBA franchise also has a brand-new general manager.
The Toronto Tempo introduced Monica Wright Rogers as the team's first GM in franchise history on Thursday.
Rogers will be in charge of preparing for the Tempo's first season, taking place in 2026, which includes the hiring of a head coach and building the inaugural roster.
The 36-year-old was selected second overall by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2010 WNBA draft and played six seasons with the team, winning two championships, before she was traded to the Seattle Storm in 2016.
Since her retirement as a player, she returned to the WNBA in 2023 as an assistant general manager for the Phoenix Mercury.
The WNBA officially announced the creation of Canada's first WNBA team in May 2024. They will play their regular-season games at Coca-Cola Stadium, which seats 8,500.
