‘Becky Hammon is goated’: Basketball world congratulates Aces on WNBA championship

Watch as WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert presents the Las Vegas Aces with the WNBA Championship trophy for the first time in their franchise's history after they defeated the Connecticut Sun in four games.

The Las Vegas Aces made history on Sunday, defeating the Connecticut Sun to bring home the 2022 WNBA championship — the franchise’s first-ever title.

The Aces’ victory also marked the first time any major professional team from the city of Las Vegas has won a championship.

Taking Game 4 of the finals 78-71, Twitter was quick to erupt in congratulations to the club for an overall impressive season, playoff performance, and of course, the win.

Many of those congratulations were focused on Aces’ head coach Becky Hammon, and rightly so, after she led her team to a 26-10 regular-season record, No. 1 playoff seed, and the 2022 Championship all within her first year.

Here’s a glimpse into how the basketball world reacted to Las Vegas’ big win.
