The Toronto Six of the Premier Hockey Federation have been sold to a high-profile group that includes Hockey Hall of Famer Angela James and former NHL head coach Ted Nolan.
The Six were previously owned by a group of Boston-based investors since their inception in 2020.
Sportsnet's Jeff Marek broke the news during Saturday’s 32 Thoughts segment on Hockey Night in Canada.
Marek said the new ownership group also consists of former NHL player and current Sportsnet analyst Anthony Stewart plus Bernice Carnegie, daughter of Black hockey pioneer Herb Carnegie and co-founder of the Carnegie Initiative for Inclusion and Acceptance in Hockey.
“There are some other names, I haven’t been able to confirm or pin those down,” Marek said, “but look for an announcement to come in the next couple of days.”
James, a four-time world champion who was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010, joined the Six coaching staff as an assistant last year.
Nolan has coached the Buffalo Sabres and New York Islanders and earned the Jack Adams Award in 1997.
The Six are currently in first place in the PHF standings with a 13-2-1 record and play their home games at York Canlan Ice Arena.
