In this edition of 32 Thoughts, Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman give an update on Darcy Kuemper's injury, discuss Mark Scheifele's trade status with the Winnipeg Jets, the future of Brent Burns and Erik Karlsson, and much more.

Mikyla Grant-Mentis is set to put pen to paper on a landmark contract with the Buffalo Beauts, Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek confirmed. The deal will be announced on Monday.

The Canadian and first Black player to win the Premier Hockey Federation MVP award will earn $US80,000 with 10 per cent of the amount as bonus. The contract could become a benchmark deal with PHF still without a CBA.

Marek reported on a 32 Thoughts Hockey Night in Canada segment that various Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association players have inquired to PHF teams about joining their ranks.

Grant-Mentis started her professional career with the Beauts in 2019-20 but spent the last two seasons with the Toronto Six. The 23-year-old from Brampton recorded 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists) in 19 games for the Six in the 2021-22 PHF season.
