The NWHL has announced changes ahead of the Isobel Cup Playoffs, with the Boston Pride and Buffalo Beauts beginning a best-of-three series on Saturday to determine the fourth seed in the post-season.

Game 2 is on Sunday afternoon and Game 3 would be on Monday night, if necessary.

The Minnesota Whitecaps currently hold the top seed, the Connecticut Whale occupy the No. 2 spot and the Toronto Six are third. Those three teams will each play each other once over the next three days to determine final seeding.

The semifinals will be held on Feb. 4 with winner-take-all games between the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds, and No. 2 and No. 3 seeds. The Isobel Cup Final will then be played on Feb. 5.

The changes come after the Metropolitan Riveters withdrew from the NWHL tournament in Lake Placid, N.Y., after several members of the organization tested positive for COVID-19.
