The Professional Women's Hockey Players Association will begin the 2022-23 season in Montreal and Truro, N.S., with the first two stops on the Secret Dream Gap Tour.

The Montreal event will take place on Oct. 15 and 16 while the Truro games will be played from Nov. 4-6. New this season, the PWHPA will feature four region-agnostic teams — Team Adidas, Team Harvey's, Team Scotiabank and Team Sonnet — made up of rosters selected from a new player ranking format. The 25-player rosters have yet to be announced but will be selected from a pool of 43 Olympians and more than 75 players with national team experience.

The Montreal stop will feature four games, with each team participating in two, at Verdun Auditorium. The Truro stop will feature six games with each team competing in three at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre. The results of these games will be tabulated in season-long standings, which will determine seeding for championship weekend sometime in 2023.

"We’re thrilled to kick off the season in Montreal and Truro, two locations where we’ve held successful events in the past," Jayna Hefford, PWHPA Operations Consultant, said in a statement. "The support we’ve received from the organizing groups behind the scenes in both Montreal and Truro have been phenomenal, and I know our athletes will, once again, get the first-class treatment they deserve."
