Canada will face a longtime MLBer in its World Baseball Classic opener.
Right-hander Julio Teheran will get the starting nod for Colombia on Saturday against the Canadians, manager Jose Mosquera said.
Live coverage of the game will be available on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ beginning at 11 a.m. ET / 8 a.m. PT.
Teheran, 35, last appeared in the majors in 2024, when he made one start for the New York Mets.
In 255 career games with the Mets, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Angels, Detroit Tigers and Milwaukee Brewers, Teheran had a 3.85 ERA and 1.22 WHIP.
He'll match up on the mound against Canadian righty Michael Soroka, who had a 4.52 ERA in 22 games with the Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs last season.
