Canada’s Conor Geekie ejected vs. Germany for illegal check to head

Team Canada forward Conor Geekie was ejected from the game against Germany after receiving a five-minute major and game misconduct for an illegal check to the head.

The incident happened just 11 seconds in, skating into Germany’s zone and laying a high hit on his opponent right off the opening faceoff.

Germany scored once on the subsequent five-minute power play.

The last game of the preliminary round, the result of this matchup will help to determine playoff seeding.
