Canada is changing up its lineup for Monday's game against Denmark at the world juniors.
Keaton Verhoeff has been registered and added to Canada's 25-man roster, making him eligible to play in the world juniors along with forward Carter Bear.
Verhoeff has been a healthy scratch for the first two games of the tournament. The 17-year-old is one of the top prospects heading into the 2026 NHL Draft.
The University of North Dakota defenceman has excelled this season in NCAA hockey, scoring four goals and tallying 11 points in 16 games.
Despite winning their first two games at the world juniors, Canada has not found its dominant form after surviving a near-upset against Latvia and a back-and-forth battle against Czechia.
Bear has 13 goals and 27 points in 23 games this season in the WHL with the Everett Silvertips. The 19-year-old was selected 13th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2025 NHL Draft.
