Of all the players to man the blue line for Canada at the world juniors, none has been more proficient at racking up points in a single tournament than Zayne Parekh.
With a goal and assist in the first two periods of Monday's bronze medal game, Parekh broke the record for most points by a Canadian defenceman at a single world juniors.
Parekh scored a power-play goal with less than two minutes remaining in the first period to give Canada a 3-2 lead, then he assisted on Porter Martone's insurance marker 1:47 into the third to record his record-breaking 13th point.
He surpassed the previous mark of 12 held by Alex Pietrangelo and Bryan McCabe.
In Canada's seven games at this year's tournament, Parekh has totalled six goals and seven assists, proving to be an offensive engine for his country after being left off the world junior roster a year prior.
Parekh began the season in the NHL with the Calgary Flames, averaging 14:46 of ice time over 11 games and recording one assist.
