One of the greatest wrestlers of his generation is coming back.
WWE legend Randy Orton will be the fifth member of Team Rhodes for Saturday's Survivor Series: WarGames premium live event, it was revealed during Raw on Monday.
After Drew McIntyre turned and helped the Judgment Day members Finn Bálor and Damien Priest retain their tag titles against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso on the Nov. 13 episode of Raw, he announced on Monday night that he had joined the Judgment Day for Saturday's WarGames match.
The Judgment Day, which consists of Bálor, Priest, JD McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio, has been entangled in various storylines with members of Team Rhodes, leading to the flagship WWE Survivor Series event to use WarGames for the second year in a row.
Raw general manager Adam Pearce told the team of Rhodes, Uso, Sami Zayn and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins they had until the end of the night to find their final member for the match, which led the "American Nightmare" to call a friend.
After Monday’s main event saw McIntyre defeat Uso to earn the WarGames advantage on Saturday, a brawl ensued before Rhodes grabbed the mic saying they found their fifth member, someone he had a “legacy” with, alluding to the faction he and Orton were a part of from 2008 to 2010.
He closed the show by saying, “They weren’t just hearing voices in their head,” lyrics from Orton’s iconic entrance music.
Without hearing his name, WWE fans knew all too well Orton was set for a return, which was later confirmed by WWE on its social media account.
The "Apex Predator" has been out of action since he lost his tag-team championships to the Usos in May 2022. Shortly after, it was revealed Orton had a legitimate back injury that required surgery to fuse his lower back in place.
In September 2023, Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp reported the 14-time world champion had been spotted at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla., training for his return.
WWE Survivor Series: WarGame will go down on Saturday from the Allstate Arena in Chicago. Watch the event live on Sportsnet+ at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
