Blue Jays’ Buehrle named Gold Glove finalist

Toronto Blue Jays left-hander Mark Buehrle was among three American League pitchers named as a finalist for the Rawlings Gold Glove award Thursday.

Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Mariners and Dallas Keuchel of the Houston Astros are the other two finalists for the award, which is given annually to the league’s best defensive pitcher. No other Blue Jays are finalists for a Gold Glove.

Buehrle won four consecutive Gold Gloves from 2009-12 as a member of the Chicago White Sox and Miami Marlins, but Blue Jays right-hander R.A. Dickey won the award in 2013.

In 2014 Buehrle picked off four batters and allowed just one stolen base in four attempts. He made only one error in 42 chances and played a role in two double plays.

MLB managers and coaches vote for players in their own league to determine the winners.
