Blue Jays option Joe Biagini to Buffalo, activate Danny Barnes

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Joe Biagini comments on being sent to triple-A Buffalo.

The Toronto Blue Jays have optioned pitcher Joe Biagini to the triple-A Buffalo Bisons, and have activated Danny Barnes ahead of Friday’s game against the Houston Astros.

Biagini has struggled since his return to the bullpen on July 8. He has a 5.54 ERA in 13 innings since, and has walked nine and given up 10 hits.

The 27-year-old was a big part of Toronto’s relief efforts in 2016, finishing the year with a 3.06 ERA in 67.2 innings after being plucked from the Rule 5 Draft.

He was transitioned into the starting rotation as the Blue Jays battled injuries in the beginning of 2017 and went 2-7 in 11 starts with a 5.60 ERA.
