Rumour has it Daniel Norris is preparing to take up non-mobile lodgings and ditch his beard.
Norris, who’s in Dunedin, Fla. for Toronto Blue Jays spring training, has been living in a 1978 Volkswagen microbus of late.
Norris’ van was in the team’s parking lot on Friday morning, but Sportsnet’s Barry Davis reported that the left-hander will soon have a more traditional sleeping arrangement.
The other big question is when Norris’ biblical beard will will meet its match. Norris warmed up in the bullpen still sporting his now-legendary facial hair.
But in a text to his mom from Thursday, Norris said his beard could disappear as soon as Friday.
Norris’ alternative-lifestyle off-season has piqued the interest of many, including someone who’s started a novelty Twitter account for his beard (no word yet on what will happen when Norris shaves).
Some people weren’t aware the major-leaguer was living on the road for the off-season and offered a little help to the pitcher, who will earn the MLB minimum salary of $507,500 if he makes the team.
