Jays make ‘internal decision’ to scratch Rasmus

Colby Rasmus was late to the ballpark, resulting in manager John Gibbons benching him as punishment. Gibbons joked after the game that it was all just his keen managerial instinct to put Nolan Reimold in, who hit two home runs.

HOUSTON – The Toronto Blue Jays scratched Colby Rasmus from their starting lineup Thursday night in what the team described as an “internal decision” that manager John Gibbons would address after their game with the Houston Astros.

No other specifics were given but he was seen arriving late to Minute Maid Park.

Rasmus was slated to bat seventh and play centre field in the original lineup posted.

He was pulled and Nolan Reimold slotted in his place at DH, with Anthony Gose moving to centre field and Jose Bautista going from DH to right field.
