The bad blood between Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado and the Boston Red Sox continued to brew on Tuesday night.
Temperatures rose early in Tuesday’s game when Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale fired a pitch behind Machado at knee-level to send a message of retaliation in the first inning.

As for Sale, he kept his post-game comments to a minimum:
The bad blood can be traced back to the teams’ two-games series last month, in which Machado slid hard into Dustin Pedroia’s knee and sent the second baseman limping off the field.
Red Sox pitcher Matt Barnes then threw a fastball at Machado’s head the following night, resulting in a four-game suspension.
We’re only halfway through this four-game series in Boston, and all signs are pointing to the drama continuing Wednesday night.
