Anthony Bosch, the owner of Biogenesis — the South Florida anti-aging clinic at the centre of baseball’s latest doping scandal — is allegedly cooperating with Major League Baseball following a refusal from Alex Rodriguez after Bosch went to the Yankees star for financial help, according to the New York Daily News.

“A-Rod refused to pay him what he wanted,” a source told nydailynews.com. “Baseball was worried about that.”

“They were afraid someone else would pay him,” the source added. “Bosch is the only guy that can provide them with what they need.”

Alex Rodriguez, Ryan Braun, Nelson Cruz, Melky Cabrera and Bartolo Colon are among more than a dozen players whose names have been tied to the now-closed clinic.

A-Rod has a previous history with performance-enhancing drugs. In February 2009, Rodriguez admitted to using steroids, saying he used them from 2001 to 2003 when playing for the Texas Rangers. He previously denied use of performance-enhancing drugs, notably during a 2007 interview with Katie Couric on 60 Minutes.
