Torii Hunter was surprised the Los Angeles Angels were able to sign Josh Hamilton.
Hunter, who played the last five seasons with the Angels, appeared to be caught off guard that owner Arte Moreno was able to find money to sign Hamilton on a five-year, $125 million deal on Thursday.
I was told money was tight but I guess the Arte had money hidden under a Mattress. Business is business but don’t lie. — Torii Hunter (@toriihunter48) December 13, 2012

The Angels had one of the highest payrolls in the league last season after signing first baseman Albert Pujols to a 10-year, $240 million contract and pitcher C.J. Wilson for five years and $77.5 million. Despite the additions, the team finished third in the AL West and did not make the playoffs.
The veteran outfielder reportedly wanted to stay with the Angels but after he was unable to reach a new deal, Hunter signed a two-year, $26 million deal with Detroit Tigers as a free agent last month.
The fun-loving Hunter did not want to come off as bitter and later tweeted that he thinks the Angels made a “great signing”.
I’m not upset just have fun with it. ?????? — Torii Hunter (@toriihunter48) December 13, 2012
