Grey Cup MVP Chad Kackert may be going south of the border.

According to Sportsnet’s Arash Madani, the Toronto Argonauts running back recently worked out with the New York Jets.

Kackert, who is set to become a free agent in the CFL on Feb. 15, could be offered a contract by the Jets, pending a physical.

The 26-year-old rushed for 638 yards on 100 carries and finished with five touchdowns for the Argos last season.

The Argos are said to have offered a new deal to Kackert but the running back may explore his options in the NFL first, where he may reunite with an influential figure from his past.

The New Hampshire product was originally recruited by then assistant coach Chip Kelly, who currently is the head coach at Oregon.

Kelly is expected to among the top candidates for NFL head coaching vacancies after the season, and Kackert could be a logical fit to rejoin his old coach.

It remains unclear if Kackert has interest in joining the Jets if he is offered a free agent contract.

Kackert signed as free agent with the Argos on Feb. 14, 2011.
