NEW YORK — John Idzik is shaking up the New York Jets’ front office.
A person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Wednesday that neither assistant general manager Scott Cohen nor director of football administration Ari Nissim will have their contracts renewed.
The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the team had not announced the moves.
Both Cohen and Nissim were key members of former GM Mike Tannenbaum’s front office. Cohen, who had been with the team since 2008, had interviewed for the vacant GM job when Tannenbaum was fired in January.
Nissim, hired in 2006, was the Jets’ primary contract negotiator under Tannenbaum.
According to a few published reports, Idzik is interested in having former Arizona Cardinals general manager Rod Graves join the Jets’ front office in some capacity. Idzik was hired by Graves in 2004 as Arizona’s senior director of football operations.
JoJo Wooden, the team’s assistant director of player personnel, and scout Kevin Kelly left the Jets last week to join the San Diego Chargers’ front office. Michael Davis, the Jets’ assistant director of college scouting, and scout Joe Bommarito also did not have their contracts renewed after the NFL draft last month.
Senior personnel executive Terry Bradway and director of pro personnel Brendan Prophett are among the few remaining from Tannenbaum’s front office staff.
