HALIFAX — The congratulations are rolling in today for the Halifax Mooseheads after the hockey team capped an impressive season with a Memorial Cup win.

Nova Scotia Premier Darrell Dexter praised the team for its 6-4 victory over the Portland Winterhawks in Saskatoon.

Liberal Leader Stephen McNeil and Tory Leader Jamie Baillie also weighed in to express gratitude to the team.

Dexter says residents in his riding of Cole Harbour were particularly excited by Nathan MacKinnon’s hat trick in the winning game.

MacKinnon won the Stafford Smythe Memorial cup, awarded to the tournament’s most valuable player.
