Bruins’ Liles to have hearing for elbow on Lightning’s Kucherov

Nikita Kucherov made a quick move to cut across the blue line but was dropped by John-Michael Liles, who caught him with an elbow.

Boston Bruins defenceman John-Michael Liles will have a hearing Thursday for his hit to the head of Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov.

Liles caught Kucherov with an elbow to the head late in the first period of a Tuesday night game. There was no penalty called on the play.

Kucherov was visibly shaken up following the collision but did return to the game in the second period.

The Bruins acquired Liles in deadline day trade with the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for third- and fifth-round picks plus prospect Anthony Camara. The veteran has six goals and 17 points in 69 games this season.
