The Calgary Flames provided qualifying offers to pending restricted free agent forwards Mikael Backlund, Akim Aliu, Paul Bryon, Blair Jones and goaltender Leland Irving on Monday.
Backlund, who registered 11 points in 41 games with the Flames last season, had a cap hit of $1,270,833 for the past three years.
Aliu, who was acquired from the Winnipeg Jets during the season, spent most of the year with the Abbotsford Heat in the American hockey League, but had three points in two games with the Flames.
Jones played 21 games with the Flames, while Byron and Irving were in the AHL.
The Flames did not qualify Blake Comeau, Ryley Grantham or Logan MacMillan.
Comeau tallied five goals and 10 assists in 58 games with the Flames in 2011-12.
