Canucks trying to trade frustrated Schneider

Sportsnet has learned that Vancouver Canucks GM Mike Gillis is working the phones in an attempt to trade 40-year old defenceman Mathieu Schneider.

Sighting personal reasons, a frustrated Schneider left the team prior to the Christmas break. A lack of ice and a reduced role on the club are the main issues with the veteran.

In 17 games this season, Schneider has two goals and three assists, averaging 15:14 of ice time.
