Ryan Miller has managed to win 364 games over his lengthy NHL career, but none were as unique as his victory on Thursday night.
In Anaheim’s final game before the NHL All-Star break, the Ducks goalie picked up the ‘W’ without recording a single official save in a 4-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets.
Miller came into the game with 6:40 left in the third period after starter John Gibson was removed with a lower-body injury. Miller played the remainder of the game and overtime, then turned aside all five shootout attempts by the Jets. However, those stops in the shootout do not register as ‘official’ saves on the scoresheet.
How rare is the feat, you ask? Pretty rare.
