Phoenix Coyotes centre Martin Hanzal has a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Monday for charging Edmonton Oilers defenceman Jeff Petry.

The hit in question took place at 13:42 of the first period of the Coyotes’ 5-4 win over the Oilers Saturday when Hanzal checked Petry into the boards on the forecheck. Hanzal was assessed a two-minute minor for charging.

Petry was shaken up on the play but remained in the game.

Hanzal has been suspended one other time in his career, receiving a one-game ban for boarding Los Angeles Kings captain Dustin Brown.
