IIHF releases Olympic men’s and women’s hockey schedules

Tim and Sid discuss whether people will still watch the Olympics despite the NHL electing to skip the tournament.

The International Ice Hockey Federation released the schedule for the Olympic tournaments on Monday.

The men’s side features 12 teams and Canada will be in group A along with the Czech Republic, Switzerland and host South Korea.

The three group winners plus the next best second-place team will automatically advance to the quarter-finals. The other four quarter-final spots will be awarded to the winners of playoff games between the final eight teams.

Here is the groups for the men’s tournament:

The Canadian women are also in Group A with the United States, Finland and Russia.

All four teams in Group A will automatically advance to the playoff rounds, along with the top two teams from Group B. The top two teams in Group A will advance directly to the semifinals.
