Is this the new Brooklyn Islanders jersey?

John Tavares sits down with Brooklyn blogger Ronnie Del Vecchio to talk the city that the New York Islanders are relocating to and if he'd accept the nickname Johnny Cupcakes.

The new Brooklyn Islanders third jersey set for a Sept. 21 unveiling may have leaked.

A black and white jersey with the traditional “NY” logo surfaced on Twitter Thursday.

Uniform aficionado Chris Creamer at SportsLogos.net says it’s certainly plausible that this is the new Islanders jersey, noting the four stripes on the sleeves representing the franchise’s Stanley Cup championships.

The club announced in June that it would keep its primary uniform colours and logos from its Long Island days upon moving to Brooklyn.

“One of the things we wanted to do is reiterate again, because I think fans are still concerned, that the Islanders will keep their iconic logo as well as their primary home and road jerseys,” Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark said in June.

This potential third jersey is rather minimalist in design, but obviously quite a leap from the traditional royal blue and orange tones that Islanders fans are accustom to.

Barclays Center trademarked several Brooklyn themed logos earlier this year. The colour scheme of the aforementioned jersey is consistent with the Brooklyn Nets uniforms, which Yormark had previously intimated was the plan for the alternate sweaters.
