Islanders’ Halak to miss Round 1 series vs. Panthers

The Hockey Central panel previews the Hockey Gods' series between the New York Islanders and the Florida Panthers.

New York Islanders goaltender Jaroslav Halak will miss his team’s entire first round playoff series against the Florida Panthers, coach Jack Capuano told reporters on Tuesday.

Halak was injured on March 8 in a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins and was slated to miss a minimum of six weeks with a lower-body injury.

The 30-year-old Slovakian native had 18 wins this season while posting a .919 save percentage and 2.30 goals-against average.

In other Islanders injury news, defenceman Travis Hamonic returned to full practice with the team.

Hamonic suffered a lower-body injury on March 31 when he collided with Columbus Blue Jackets forward Scott Hartnell.
