Jaromir Jagr continues to cement his legacy as one of the greatest players to ever lace up a pair of skates in the NHL.
The Florida Panthers forward picked up an assist on an Erik Gudbranson goal against the Colorado Avalanche Thursday and subsequently tied Gordie Howe for third place on the NHL all-time list with 1,850 points.
Mark Messier ranks second all time with 1,887 points. The Panthers have 18 games remaining this season, so Jagr won’t catch Messier anytime soon but if the 44-year-old returns to play in 2016-17 it’s feasible he could leapfrog Messier. Wayne Gretzky’s insurmountable record stands at 2,857 points.
Last month Jagr passed Brett Hull for third all time in goal scoring with when he notched his 742nd career marker.
Jagr will have some serious work to put in over the next few years if he hopes to catch Howe for second place in all-time goals. Howe finished his remarkable career with 801.
