Jets sign G Aebischer to AHL contract

The Winnipeg Jets have signed goaltender David Aebischer to an American Hockey League contract, the team announced on Wednesday.

The team has assigned him to their AHL affiliate the St. John’s IceCaps.

Aebischer appeared in two pre-season games with the Jets, recording a 3.00 goals against average and .897 save percentage.

The 33-year-old spent last season with HC Lugano of the Swiss-A League. In 36 games with the club, he accumulated a 12-24-0 record, 3.10 GAA and .866 SV%.

Aebischer has appeared in 214 NHL games between the Phoenix Coyotes, Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche.
