Winnipeg Jets goalie Steve Mason left Saturday’s game against the San Jose Sharks with what the team described as an upper-body injury.

Mason played the entire first period, stopping 11 of the 13 shots he faced, but did not come out for the second stanza.

The nature and severity of the injury is unknown at this time. Mason stopped a hard, high shot from Jannik Hansen midway through the first period that looked to maybe cause some discomfort, but it’s unclear when exactly Mason was injured. The two goals Mason allowed occurred after that shot from Hansen.

Mason had a 2-3-1 record with a 3.31 goals-against average and .907 save percentage in seven appearances prior to Saturday’s contest. He was replaced by Connor Hellebuyck.
