The Winnipeg Jets will open their season at home and it will be against the Senators.

According to the the Winnipeg Free Press, the Jets’ first game of the shortened NHL season will take place Saturday, Jan. 19 at the MTS Centre against Ottawa.

In light of the report, the Ottawa Sun’s Bruce Garrioch tweeted that the Senators are unaware of who they’ll play in the opener as they haven’t been informed about the upcoming NHL schedule.

NHL training camps are expected to open Sunday after the ratification process for the new collective bargaining agreement is completed, according to deputy commissioner Bill Daly.

The league and NHLPA continued to hammer out a memorandum of understanding Tuesday that will ultimately be voted on by their constituents. The owners will cast ballots in person at a Board of Governors meeting Wednesday afternoon in New York, while the players are expected to vote electronically on Thursday and Friday.

If all of that goes off without a hitch, the agreement would then be signed by both parties.
