It has been a tough week for injuries in the KHL.

A day after the neck of Vitaly Sitnikov was accidentally cut by the skate of Ladislav Nagy, Severstal defenceman Nikolai Stasenko suffered a scary injury, taking a slapshot to the face during an attempt to block a shot from Sibir’s Sergei Shumakov.

The defenceman was immediately attended to by the medical team at the game and had to be taken from the ice on a stretcher.

According to The Hockey News, Severstal released a statement, saying that Stasenko will not be able to return to full practice for at least four months but he was in stable condition after leaving the ice.
