The Ottawa Senators have suffered another injury to their depleted roster.

In Tuesday’s 5-3 win over the New York Islanders, defenceman Marc Methot left the game in the second period after he was slammed into the boards by Brad Boyes.

Methot has been an important player for a Senators defensive corps missing both Erik Karlsson and Jared Cowan. Ottawa is also without forwards Milan Michalek, Jason Spezza and starting goaltender Craig Anderson.

The severity of Methot’s injury is unclear and Senators head coach Paul MacLean told reporters after the game the team will evaluate Methot’s injury and should have an update by Wednesday.

In 30 games with Ottawa this season, Methot has one goal, three assists and a minus-four rating.
