Report: Barclay’s Center not meeting ice-making standards

Johnny Boychuk scored shorthanded and the New York Islanders defeated the Arizona Coyotes.

The problems keep piling up for the New York Islanders and their new Brooklyn rink, the Barclays Center.

A report Saturday suggested that the piping below the ice does not meet NHL standards for ice-making. Yahoo Sports’ Chris Botta provided some insight on Twitter.

Islanders players were reportedly critical of the ice after Friday night’s game. Kyle Okposo, now with the Buffalo Sabres after signing as a free agent this summer, blasted the ice conditions last season.

The arena headaches for the club have been numerous since the move to Brooklyn — one of which being poor sight lines for fans, another being that ownership was rumoured to be looking at other sites for the team to play.
