The Marlies have a 157-114-15-26 record since Eakins took over as head coach in 2009.

The Canucks are looking for a new head coach after firing Alain Vigneault following the team’s first-round sweep to the San Jose Sharks.

Eakins has emerged as a potential candidate after leading the Marlies to consecutive division titles, including a run to the Calder Cup final last season. He also played a big role in helping develop several current Maple Leafs, including Nazem Kadri, Jake Gardiner and Matt Frattin. The Marlies have a 157-114-15-26 record since Eakins took over as head coach in 2009.

Prior to his most recent stint with the Marlies, Eakins served as an assistant coach with the Maple Leafs from 2006 to 2008 and with the Marlies in 2005-06.
