Report: Couture out 3-4 weeks with hand injury

With the announcement of Team Canada’s Olympic roster drawing nearer, the Hockey Central panel makes their final predictions and cases for players who may be on the bubble.

San Jose Sharks centre and Team Canada hopeful Logan Couture will have surgery Wednesday on his injured hand and is expected to miss three to four weeks, according to CSNBayArea.com’s Kevin Kurz.

Prior to news of the injury, Couture was predicted by many to be named to the Canadian men’s Olympic team, which will be revealed Tuesday morning in Toronto.

Canada’s first game is on Feb. 13 against Norway, meaning Couture could be ready to represent his country in Sochi should his rehabilitation progress as expected. Injured players can be selected and replaced later if they’re unable to suit up for the tournament.

In 43 games for the Sharks this season, Couture has 14 goals, 20 assists and a plus-13 rating.
