Daniel Alfredsson will attempt to play tonight against the Phoenix Coyotes, but the Senators captain will not make a final decision on his playing status until after the pre-game warmup.
Craig Hartsburg told the media he has no concerns about Alfredsson returning to the lineup just seven days after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. That means the decision on whether or not he plays rests solely with Alfredsson and the club’s medical staff.
Alfredsson participated in an optional skate on Friday morning. He has not reported any pain or swelling in his right knee after skating for four straight days. He does have concerns about playing back-to-back games, as the Senators will host the Boston Bruins on Saturday night. But at this point, Alfredsson is only targeting a return to the lineup tonight.
